Early EdU E-mail – Personal Invitation
I would like to personally invite you to apply for the Summer 2025 Early EdU online
course. Early EdU courses are offered through the Office of Child Care. Here’s some
information about Summer Semester:
 The course will be held May 19 th -August 16 th , 2025.
 Applicants will be asked to prioritize the courses that they would like to take and
may participate in one course per semester.
 Participants usually spend an average of 10-15 hours weekly completing
coursework.
 Participants must be able to spend one to two hours directly interacting with
children weekly for practicum and will need to film themselves (e.g. on a cell
phone) interacting with children several times throughout the semester.
 Upon successful completion of a course, participants may earn three college
credits through Southern Utah University for just $69(which may transfer to other
Utah universities).
 Courses are open to anyone who works with children in the state of Utah.
Summer 2025 Course Options:
 Child Development and Brain Building: Participants will learn to identify
children’s developmental trajectories. An emphasis on brain development will
provide participants with a unique lens to apply in their early learning program.
Participants will create early childhood environments that promote physical,
language, social and emotional and cognitive development. The course explores
the key role that individual differences and family and socio-cultural context plays
in development and learn strategies to build relationships that support each
child’s individual development.
 Supporting Language and Literacy Development in Preschool: This course
unites theoretical knowledge of language and literacy development in young
children with practical application of evidence-based strategies in early childhood
settings. Topics include building vocabulary, phonological awareness and
supporting early writing.
I think you would be a great candidate for this program, and I would like to encourage
you to apply to take a course this spring.

Applicants will be notified of their acceptance into the course by March 31 st , 2025.

Utah AI Summit: SeedAI presents Hack the Future

Hack the Future will bring together entrepreneurs, executives, policymakers, and public sector leaders to focus on the future of AI in Utah and beyond. The event on May 22nd will feature a hands-on red-teaming exercise to familiarize participants with AI, presentations from early AI adopters, and a workshop where participants will build solutions to real problems faced by Utah public sector and business stakeholders. The following day, May 23rd, will focus on taking the lessons learned in the workshops and applying them to the policy realm: piecing together go-forward plans and assembling a cohort to advise on AI diffusion efforts across Utah.

UDRC’s Senior Research Scientist, Alicia McIntire, PhD, will share her new report on the postgraduation labor market and continuing education pathways of nursing graduates in Utah between 2011 and 2020. This research explores the postgraduation wages, employment, and educational dynamics for different degrees in nursing. This includes data on Certified Nurse Assistants (CNA), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN), Associate Degree Registered Nurses (ADN), and Bachelor’s Degree Registered Nurses (BSN). In addition, this research analyzes early exits from the nursing industry. Understanding the postgraduation pathways for Utah’s nurses can lead to more informed decisions for those concerned with nursing education and the nursing labor market.

[TAP] CALL FOR PRESENTERS - K-12 Teaching as a Profession Summer Conference

All:

I am working on preparing for the K-12 Teaching as a Profession Summer Conference. Please make your calendar for Wednesday, June 11, 2025! We are still finalizing the location but plan on it being in the Wasatch Front area (think Canyons, Jordan, Granite, Alpine area).

Summer conference will look a little different this year as I want to be able to provide a more collaborative experience for TAP teachers instead of multiple breakout sessions like we have done in the past. The reasoning behind this is TAP teachers across the state have been asking to be able to collaborate with other TAP teachers to get ideas, ask questions, discuss, plan, etc. I want to be able to allow you to sit down as a group discuss topics such as:

Deep dive into the standards

Instructional materials to teach the standards

Understanding YouScience data

Update to the K-12 Teaching as a Profession pathway

Alignment between TAP courses and Educators Rising Utah

With that said, I am looking for facilitators to help with the topics listed above. If you are selected to help facilitate summer conference, you would need to be able to participate in the following:

Attend 2 virtual meeting (April/May) to summer conference plan

Create an outline for 1.5 hours of presentation during summer conference

If you are interested in being a facilitator for one of the courses at summer conference, please complete the following Google form by Friday, February 28. I will reach out to you in March if you are selected to help. As always, if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out. We are excited to announce a Science and Engineering Program for Teachers at Westminster University, Utah, this June. We will accept 30 Middle and High School STEM teachers from Utah, Arizona, Idaho, New Mexico, Colorado and Wyoming for a 3-day professional development program on Westminster University's Campus.

Applications for SEPT West 2025 are live! You can click the link below to download the application. SEPT West 2025 will be held on Westminster University's Campus from June 24th to 27th. Tuition for this year's program will be $400 and covers lodging, participation in the full program, and food during our 3-day sessions.

In 2025, we will ask 30 outstanding educators from secondary schools worldwide who teach science, technology, engineering, and/or math (STEM) subjects. We invite our accepted teachers to a 3-day program on Westminster University's campus from schools worldwide where they are recognized as innovative, creative, and dedicated leaders in their communities. Would you, or a teacher you know, be a good fit for SEPT? In the past, the teachers who have made the most of their week at MIT are known to:

Integrate technology in their classrooms - particularly technology that enables students to create; and,

Welding Endorsement Course

$250 Class is Tuesday, Wed, & Thurs, 8am-4pm Lunch is provided Welding Endorsement, Option E Register online: btech.edu/welding-educator-ce This USBE-approved course will assist current and future teachers in receiving a Welding Teacher Endorsement. It will focus on welding teaching methods, weld evaluation and assessment, and best practices. To demonstrate competency, teachers must pass written exams focused on the Utah high school welding curriculum and welder certification tests. If needed arrangements can be made for additional time to pass the tests.
