Executive Director & Principal at IECHS
Renee Edwards has been in education for over 24 years with the last 12 years in administration, and was a classroom teacher at both the high school and college level in science and math including CTE CE Biotechnology prior to becoming an administrator. She has a BS degree in biochemistry and an MS degree in engineering specializing in biochemical engineering, and began her career in the sciences field before transitioning to education through an alternate route for licensure. She feels passionate about preparing students for the next step after high school and has found Utah’s CTE program to be very valuable in the development of student pathways to industry via higher education, tech schools, or even internship/apprenticeships. The real-world application provides meaning and relevance for Itineris content areas and allows students to explore fields of interest prior to going into that field which is imperative. She has grown the Itineris CTE program in the last 12 years under her administration from one pathway with a few classes to four pathways with 14 courses and a robust CTE internship program with industry partners!

He has a true passion for the integration of career-based education and hand-on learning experiences. Providence Hall is focused on providing a holistic educational experience offering a broad selection of CTE options for students. It is the mission of the school to develop students who can think critically, communicate effectively, and act responsibly in an ever-changing global community.

This comprehensive training is designed for Title VI Coordinators in K-12 and higher education settings who are responsible for ensuring compliance with federal civil rights laws prohibiting discrimination on the basis of race, color, or national origin.
Participants will gain a solid understanding of the legal foundations of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, including relevant regulations, policy guidance from the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights (OCR), and key court decisions shaping implementation. The training will explore how Title VI intersects with other federal mandates, such as the Equal Educational Opportunities Act (EEOA), and will cover essential responsibilities such as investigating complaints, responding to incidents of discrimination, and developing policies and procedures to prevent and address discriminatory practices.

This training equips Title VI Coordinators with the legal insight and practical strategies needed to foster an inclusive, nondiscriminatory educational environment.
